Third Trimester!

Can you even believe it!?! I am now in the third trimester. Today marks the start of Week 28. It is amazing how quick the time has gone by and from what I am told, the last trimester will go by the quickest!

We are on target for the most part with our things to do before Maddox arrives, except for finding a pediatrician. I really need to take some time and focus on it. Perhaps next week...

What did people do when they chose their pediatrician? Did you perform interviews, take referrals, or just open the yellow pages and point?

who told you that the third trimester goes by the fastest? I can't say that was the case for me. When your limbs are swollen beyond recognition and you can't breathe and heartburn is threatening to end your life and this is what you deal with for 13weeks, it drags!haha

You know what I did for a pediatrician. I called and set up one that was close and when I delivered I found out that she didn't have the room in her schedule for another patient! So their were pediatricians seeing babies on my floor and he just so happened to have openings so I picked him! haha.

Yeah, I am leaning toward no interviews. I just don't know if it is necessary. I am going to call Hope's dr and see if he has openings.

I can honestly say the 3rd trimester was the slowest for both my pregnancies especially the last month! I did do interviews for pediatricians though, there are certain things I believe in that I want my Dr to believe in also so I looked for those specific things when interviewing and let me tell you I had a huge list of requirements and brought it to every interview I went to. Finding the right pediatrician is no joke when it comes to the loves of your life and especially when they have certain conditions like allergies and eczema in Charlotte's case...

Just wanted to give you some examples of interview questions I asked in case you aren't sure of what kind of things you might want.
Is the Dr affiliated with any hospitals (especially CHKD) Some Dr's don't have hospital privileges so they won't see your baby when they are first born and they won't see them in the hospital if they get sick
Big practice or small practice, how many Dr's and will you see just one or all of them
Location, location, location!
What are the hours, are they open on weekends and do they take walk-ins if your baby is sick
Who answers the phone if you call in the middle of the night
Do they have an in-office lab to do blood work and other testing
Are they pro breastfeeding (you think they would all be but you would be very surprised at how many push formula at the first sign of trouble)
Those are just a few I had on my list...we get some really great recommendations from our moms at LLL and also have you asked your ob/gyn? Sometimes they have a list of Drs. they recommend...hope this helps some!
